Cassis is a small picturesque coastal town with about 3500 inhabitants, whose fame extends far beyond the French borders.
As soon as you let your eyes wander over the scenery around the harbour or stroll through the narrow little streets of this gem, you will be enchanted.

Thanks to its central location and short distances, you will probably - just like us - never finish visiting everything the region has to offer in terms of beauty.

In any case, the two world heritage sites that Cassis alone offers are a must:
Cap Canaille and the massif of the Calanques.
At Cap Canaille, you can watch the sunrise or sunset with a magnificent view that is second to none.

The Calanques, which stretch from Cassis to Marseille, should be experienced with all your senses on a hike: the nature, the paths, the scent of Provence - you will even be rewarded with swimming opportunities when you get to the second or third Calanque.

In terms of cuisine, no wishes are left unfulfilled, as there is a great variety of wonderful restaurants:

If you like to enjoy star cuisine, you have a wide choice. Dimitri Droisneau's Villa Madie in Cassis was awarded the third star in 2022. Another 3-star restaurant is by Hélène Darroz and is located about 60 km away in Chateau La Coste. Haute cuisine is also offered at Le Petit Nice by Gérald Passédat as well as Alexandre Mazzia's AM in Marseille and Christophe Bacquié's restaurant in Le Castellet. In all cases, it is worth making a reservation well in advance of your arrival.

A boat trip to the Calanques is also heartily recommended in any case: whether you charter a boat yourself or ask Klaus to go out to sea with you, or whether you book the organised boat trips at the port of Cassis. You will enjoy the beauty of the sea and the view of the calanques from the water. A rented kayak/canoe is also fun, but requires some sporting commitment.

There are about 50 museums within a 50km radius of Cassis, offering incredible cultural diversity. Whether the MUCEM or the newly created Grotte Cosquer in Marseille, the Fondation Carmignac on the island of Porquerolles, the art trail in Château La Coste, the Musée Granet or the Fondation Vasarely in Aix-en-Provence - art lovers will marvel at the results, just like all the famous painters marvel at the incredible light.


Do you like to drink good wine? Then Cassis is the place to be: this small town has 14 (!) wineries and is famous for white wine and rosé. You can also visit some of the wineries.

If you would like to expand the sporting offer of Le Cap Cassis: in Cassis there are 2 tennis & paddle courts, a sailing school, a climbing garden, a bicycle rental, a tuk-tuk to rent for excursions as well as Segways and kayaks.

The second largest French city Marseille is worth a visit in any case: be it the cathedral Notre Dame de la Garde, the old harbour, various beaches or the Arab quarter with its markets and colourful hustle and bustle. Immerse yourself in a cultural diversity that will delight you.

Equally beautiful are excursions to Provence to Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Toulon and Hyeres, to Le Castellet and Cadière-d'Azur as well as to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. A very special experience is offered by the flowering lavender fields in early summer and the truffle market in Richerenches in winter.
